On November 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Ring IV boxing event took place, headlined by the WBC Light Heavyweight world title fight between American David Benavidez (31-0, 26 KOs) and Britain’s Anthony Yarde (27-4, 24 KOs).
The bout ended in the seventh round via technical knockout after a prolonged assault from Benavidez.
Following the victory, Benavidez announced that his next fight will be against Mexico’s Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez. To make the matchup, Benavidez will move up from Light Heavyweight to Cruiserweight, where Ramirez holds the WBA and WBO world titles.
One of Ramirez’s trainers, Malik Scott, who appeared in the DAZN studio, stated that Gilberto is the best cruiserweight in the world:
“I’m excited for this fight. Gilberto Ramirez is the best cruiserweight in the world. Opetaia? I believe Zurdo stops Opetaia.”
