Joshua was heading to family home in Lagos before car accident

A relative of former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua, who wished to remain anonymous, said that before the accident the Briton was traveling from Lagos to the family home, and that the news of the crash “came as a shock” to the family.

“We are hoping for his speedy recovery and also the people who passed away – I pray for the departed to rest in peace. He’s normally coming around for the new year. We haven’t seen him so we were expecting him,” the relative said.

It was also reported that Joshua has been hospitalized.
