    Detailed Fight Review

Styles and Techniques of the Opponents

  • One of the best confrontations in modern boxing—a fight between the American and Ukrainian schools of boxing. Keyshawn is an ultra-technical American who trains with Terence Crawford's coach, Brian McIntyre. Davis works excellently at mid-range, applies pressure wisely, and is a master at exploiting his opponent's mistakes. A great talent.

On the other side is Denys Berinchyk—a silver medalist at the Olympics and a well-established professional boxer. The Ukrainian went through the tough school of Anatoly Lomachenko in amateur boxing, transitioned to professional boxing, and adapted superbly. Berinchyk moves a lot, constantly defends with his torso, switches stances, and combines punches into multi-punch combinations.

  • Age and Experience Difference

  • Keyshawn is 25, a young prospect-contender. It's the perfect age and time for him to raise the level of his opposition and attempt to win a championship title. In his recent fights, Davis has stepped up to better opposition—stronger and more experienced.

In his last three fights, the American defeated José Pedraza, Miguel Madueño, and Gustavo Lemos. All three are solid, experienced opponents, and Lemos was recently a potential contender for a title. Keyshawn defeated all of them with ease—only Madueño lasted the full rounds.

Berinchyk is 36. He doesn’t have as much time in boxing as Keyshawn, but lately, he has finally gotten his chance and seized it. Since 2022, Denys's promoter, K2, reached an agreement for co-promotion with Queensberry Promotions, and according to the boxer himself, “there are certain agreements with Top Rank.”

In this time, Berinchyk has defeated Ivan Mendy, Anthony Yigit, and Emanuel Navarrete. All three were one-sided victories, but each time Denys decisively outboxed his opponents. And he also blocked Navarrete’s path, who was chasing a championship in a fourth weight class.

  • Punch Statistics in Recent Fights

  • Berinchyk is a volume puncher. In attacks, he focuses on combinations and, during training camps, emphasizes throwing as many punches as possible. In his fight against Emanuel Navarrete, who literally bombards his opponents with punches, Berinchyk outworked him—throwing 732 punches compared to his opponent’s 612.

Keyshawn is a more economical boxer. The American applies pressure and breaks down opponents from mid-range but can easily switch to a counter-punching style and capitalize on his opponent’s mistakes. His accuracy, ranging from 35% to 45%, allows him to do this effectively.

  • Fighting Activity

  • Keyshawn fought three times in 2024, which led him to a title shot. While the level of his opposition wasn’t the highest, it was still quite decent.

Berinchyk fought once last year—becoming a champion in his fight against Navarrete. Since the spring of 2024, Denys hasn’t appeared in the ring.

  • Punching Power

  • The advantage goes to Davis. Statistically, he has more knockouts—66.67% compared to 47.37%. Overall, his punches are noticeably heavy.

In his last three fights, Keyshawn won by knockout twice. In his last five fights, he knocked out three opponents, including Anthony Yigit, with whom Berinchyk fought all twelve rounds.

Denys last scored a knockout in 2021—TKO in the third round against José Sanchez. Berinchyk undoubtedly has power and knows how to land it. However, his punches have more of a cumulative effect.

  • Ability to Absorb Hits

  • Neither Berinchyk nor Davis has any problems here. Both have not only a strong chin but also a good defense to avoid clean punches from their opponents.

  • Fight Venue

  • Of course, the American has the advantage of the arena, as the fight will take place in New York. Keyshawn has fought at Madison Square Garden twice—winning by both decision and knockout.

For Denys, this will be his second fight in the USA and his first fight in New York. His previous fight was in San Diego against a Mexican. The Ukrainian side was concerned that judges might not award them the win in a close fight, but the ringside officials delivered a fair verdict in their favor.

  • Psychology and Recent Successes

  • Despite the fact that this is a clash of completely different styles and generations, the boxers have said that they communicate quite well, have exchanged messages multiple times before the fight, and wished each other success. So, no deep animosity is expected here—perhaps only occasional moments to gain a psychological edge.

Denys is an unyielding boxer. He boxed for a long time in Ukraine, wanted bigger fights abroad, but kept doing his thing—and achieved results. He has spent long periods in war zones in Ukraine, which is currently engaged in an aggressive war against Russia. So, no up-and-coming prospect will intimidate Berinchyk.

However, it’s not just this—it’s also Keyshawn's youth, freshness, and technical abilities. He is a fantastic boxer who knows that after a series of successes, winning a title is the logical next step. He has advantages in size and speed over Berinchyk and is already partially planning for a future with a belt.

But there’s no rush. Davis is the favorite in many areas, but Berinchyk boxes in a way that no one in Keyshawn’s career has boxed against him—confidently, actively, attacking from different angles. It’s a true huge test for the American, and to pass it, he’ll need to work hard.
