Muratalla Defeats Abdullaev to Win Interim IBF Title

On May 10 in San Diego, USA, a bout for the interim IBF lightweight title (up to 61.2 kg) took place between 28-year-old American Raymond Muratalla (23–0, 17 KOs) and 31-year-old Russian Zaur Abdullaev (20–2, 12 KOs).

The fight went the full distance, with Muratalla earning a unanimous decision victory on the scorecards: 118–110 and 119–109 twice.

It was Abdullaev’s first loss since 2019, when he was stopped in the U.S. by Devin Haney. With this win, Muratalla becomes the mandatory challenger to Vasiliy Lomachenko, the reigning full IBF lightweight world champion.
